The comments and responses to the last post are wonderful and helpful. Thank you. They open the possibility of saying more concerning this time of initiation and what it seems to concern.
We, humanity, are within a stage of group rather than individual spiritual initiation. Initiation is always excruciatingly difficult, a time of trials, a time of the removal of absolutely everything, for it is not possible to experience the presence of the divine worlds as long as we are attached to the habitual world. Initiation cannot happen without the removal of everything personality relies on.
The possible stages of this initiation: A first stage concerns the growing dissatisfaction with the visible world. When initiation gets stuck here, that is, if the individual soul remains at the level of self-satisfaction, division and opposition become stronger and stronger. It is the dangerous time when what is happening seems to be worldly problems of every sort, happening all together, and seen through usual consciousness, are things to be solved. So-called “solutions” actually make things worse – leading into various forms of dictatorship – which is materialistic consciousness taken over by an individual elevating himself to the status of a god.
Assuming this does not happen, the purpose of this stage of initiation begins to emerge: the care and concern for others becomes stronger than concern for ourselves—not just concern for the blood relationships of family. This transformation is the indication of group initiation. We, though, will not all become mystics – it is not that kind of initiation.
Concern for others, life as service, occurs through this process of the disintegration of known forms. If it were an initiation into mysticism, well, we would all awaken to the presence of the divine – but would have no way of living any practical life. In the kind of group initiation now trying to happen, the reality of the unseen alters life directions.
Present materialistic forms of self-centeredness of a mass sort (like present political promises), break down – and new forms are created, but the nature of these new forms allow the Light of the spirit to shine through them. I am thinking, for example, the true spiritual-workers of this transformation, the health-workers who are the “wholeness-workers”.
Stage one: A turning away from the material world expressing a common belief that there is an element of real wrongness in this world.
Stage Two: Seeing that this wrongness must be met, but we, alone, on our own, cannot do so without a first moment of entering selflessness – being more concerned for others than for ourselves. This is a movement away from mind-centered and ego-centeredness. This initiation is actually happening – I am not proposing a theory of group initiation, only noticing it.
Awakening into group initiation is readily available – heart-centeredness. All we have to do is allow consciousness to be felt in the region of the heart, experience those two “places” of heart described last time – and noticing heart radiance, pour ourselves into this heart-radiance – that is, surrender to it rather than hold the ego back in reserve to periodically ‘enjoy’ the experience for a few moments.
Stage Three – the remaking of earthly, worldly forms from within heart-intelligence which will result Light shining through all forms – relationships, politics, economy, religions, art, making, thinking, dwelling, technology. Everything now, though, becomes freer from egotizing it all and pleasure reawakens as joy.
Well, this is not quite all that is happening, still primarily at a sub-conscious level. We must also face the dimensions of the collective, that is, mass, Underworld we now within, through without recognition. It is not a work of removing the ever-present Underworld, but to awaken heart-presence within it as central to this group initiation. We can start that process next.
